Recently, one of the biggest unlocks happened for me.
A month or two ago, I found myself carrying a negative view toward my workload and overall life stress. My Half Ironman was right around the corner. I was coming off 48+ hour work weeks, 12-hour training weeks, and it felt like I didn’t have a second to breathe.
I was becoming irritated when clients wanted to book an early morning or late-night session. Some of my own workouts started to feel more like a chore. Something to simply check off the list.
Then a realization hit me.
My current life, my workload, and my responsibilities are all a product of things I once prayed for.
There was a time when I was training only three sessions a week, wishing more people would choose to train with me. Wishing I had more opportunity. Wishing the business would grow.
Ten months ago, I was stuck in a neck collar 24 hours a day, itching to move, train, run, and feel like myself again.
And here I am now, complaining about being able to train 35+ sessions a week, run when I want, and workout whenever I choose.
That shift hit me hard.
It truly is a matter of perspective.
That doesn’t mean work won’t become stressful. It doesn’t mean life won’t feel heavy at times. I am in a busier chapter of life, and there are still days where it feels like a lot.
But this chapter is also the result of things I once wished would become reality.
That perspective has changed the way I look at my work, my training, and my responsibilities. The workouts feel more purposeful. The long days feel more meaningful. The busy schedule feels less like a burden and more like evidence that I am building in the right direction.
Sometimes the life we complain about is the same life we used to dream about.
