This idea comes from my current read, A High-Performing Mind by Andrew Thompson. In Chapter 10, the focus is on mastering fear. One powerful tool discussed is learning to say yes to fear.

Often, when anxious thoughts or fear come to mind, we freeze, unsure of our next move. This response is natural but can lead to a lack of preparation, missed opportunities, regret, and more. When we flip the script and YES“Yes, I’m afraid of failing this quiz,” or “Yes, I’m nervous about the upcoming job interview”  We Acknowledge the Feeling and proactively work with it.

Once we accept the feeling, we take our next step, ACTION, what will we do about this fear?
“I’m going to study extra over the next few nights,” or “I’ll practice different responses for the interview.”

Fear isn’t always an emotion to run from. More often, it’s a signal that growth and preparation are required.
