Eat the Frog

You may hear that phrase and think, “What is Dylan even talking about?” When I first heard it, I had the same reaction.

“Eat the Frog” is a metaphor. The “frog” represents the task you tend to procrastinate on. the thing you know is important, but keep putting off. And to “eat” the frog simply refers to the act of doing.

For me lately, that’s been ice baths. I know they’re meaningful and beneficial for me, but they’re also something I can easily procrastinate on for most of the day.

For you, it could be:

  • Setting aside 30 minutes to meditate

  • Getting your workout done

  • Making the difficult phone call

  • Starting the project you’ve been avoiding

Whatever it is, tackling the hardest task first creates momentum. It increases productivity for the rest of the day and builds evidence that you can handle difficult things.

Too often we carry the weight of unfinished tasks with us all day long, draining energy and attention. But once the hardest thing is done, everything else feels lighter.

So stop waiting for the “perfect” time.

Just eat the damn frog.
